ETA hand2mind REVIEW and GIVEAWAY!

I am the luckiest girl! I was contacted to review ETA hand2mind's Common Core Fraction Kit!
And I have to tell you, I love it! I've used it to introduce the standards, supplement other lessons, and in small groups to reteach.

The kit is AMAZING. It's PACKED with everything-you-need to address the CCSS for fractions!
Look at this! Yes! Those are baby Versatiles in there! They are soooo cute.

I also received the Grade 3 Hands-On Standards CC Fractions Book for teachers!
It's loaded with step by step lessons to teach fractions to your students. There are six lessons on Understanding Fractions, three lessons for Equivalent Fractions, and three lessons for Comparing Fractions!

Each lesson Sets the Stage with a warm-up and skill practice.
Next the lesson Introduces the Concept with modeling, hands-on practice and guided practice.
Then the lesson Reinforces the Concept with check for understanding, independent practice and remediation. The book even has Enrichment activities! There are so many games the kids can play with hands-on and on-line interaction.

SO here's what I LOVE about this whole kit and kaboodle...
~The Book has step by step lessons for the CCSS Fractions
~There are worksheets to download, black line masters to use, AND a technology component
~The hands-on kit is so fabulous! It has 2 baby (because they are smaller than the original size) Versatiles Sets and books, Deluxe Rainbow Fraction circle sets, Cuisenaire Rods, Fraction Dominoes, Fraction Tower Cards, Geoboards, Beginner Dual Scale Rulers...and I'm sure I'm forgetting something else!
~Everything you need to model on your projector/Elmo and everything you need for small group instruction.
~The Dominoes, Fraction Tower Cards, and Versatiles are fabulous for using as independent practice or buddy games.
~Versatiles are self-checking

I'm so excited about this pack...I'll be BEGGING my Principal for a class set! OHHHH or maybe even a GRADE LEVEL SET?!?!?!

  1. Another third grade teacher uses an old "investigations" game to teach equivalent fractions that she calls the fraction cookie game. I finally played this game with my kiddos this year and they loved it! :o)

  3. We've just barely dabbled in fractions in second grade, but some of my students have started "teaching" my other kids about fractions during various number talks that we have every morning. This kit would be awesome to get my students started and prepare them more for third grade!

  6. I use the candy Smarties to find fractions of a set and they love to use them and compare the different answers.

  7. I did a similar lesson with Skittles. The kids loved finding different parts of the whole group. And with the opportunity to eat the Skittles at the end if they were doing a great job they were all focused and on task the entire lesson. I hated learning fractions when I was a kid but now I LOVE teaching them and I'm CERTAIN kit would enhance my teaching!! ::Fingers Crossed::

  8. Just today I taught my students how to draw pictures to help them compare fractions. Usually this is a really difficult concept for the kids to understand, but they did a great job! Thank you so much for this giveaway!!! :-)
